Where Have You Been?

I bet you were wondering where I've been. Life has been a big bowl of busy. This poor blog, I knew it would get neglected. Anyways, I guess you are also curious about what the little guy has been up to.

It's been all sorts of fun (sarcasm font) as of late. Here are some highlights:
  • He refuses to be put in a crib and/or play yard. Yes, I've tried toys. Yes, I've given the "let him scream it out" method a chance. He wants no part of it. So guess where he's been sleeping? Oye.
  • He is a raspberryin' fool. I've never seen a child raspberry so much in my life. It's quite spitty but cute nonetheless.
  • He's almost 1, as in a year old. I'm attempting to plan a shindig - trying not to be a procrastinator this time around.
  • My first Mother's Day was amazing.
  • He still has no hair. He's got fuzz but no hair. We are still TBD on the color - sometimes it's brown, sometimes it's blonde.
  • I really wish American Idol was better this year. I actually deleted it off my DVR.
So there you have it folks. I would write more but I'm stretched for time. I shall leave you with a picture of his first hipster hat. Enjoy!

How do I say "No"?

Well I know what this weekend holds: time to baby proof! We've done a few things here and there, but our little guy has TAKEN OFF and is now into everything. From computer wires to the TV stand, to our dog's toy bin; I can't keep up with him.

When he's somewhere he shouldn't be, I tell him "no." Do you know what he does? He turns around and flashes me his toothless smile and giggles. He goes for the illegal item once again, then looks at me, waits for me to say no, and smiles. We continue to this theme for a good chunk of time until I can turn his attention on something else - like food.

I think I sound pretty authoritative when saying "no," but my boy thinks it's just plain funny. I'm looking for any insight and/or tips on how to get him to listen to me without thinking I'm the most hysterical person on Earth.

If looks could kill...

I guess this is what my future holds? I have a sneaking suspicion my child has inherited my sass.

Milestones: Crawling

Guess who decided to crawl? That's right, the little guy finally figured out how to maneuver forward. For the past month, he got the hang of crawling backwards, which was pretty entertaining to watch as he kept getting stuck under things around the house.

Then last night as we were eating dinner - someone figured out the secrets to forward crawling. I was really excited until this morning when the reality of his new mobility set in. Let's just say he crawled into the bathroom and figured out how to get into EVERYTHING. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera handy so I will accompany this post with a photo remembering the backwards days.

I kind of want to get married again

I can't be the only married person that still watches these super-addictive TV shows like Say Yes to the Dress and David Tutera - or maybe I am. Some times I see these dresses and wish they were around when I tied the knot.

For example, Anthropologie has a new line of gowns called BHLDN. I want, want, want!
I don't believe I have any future plans of getting married again (unless there's something I don't know) so I just can't come up with an excuse to buy one of these gowns. I guess I can just hope that wearing a wedding dress around NYC becomes the latest fashion trend.

I don't know how to feed my child

Feeding my son has turned into one of the most confusing things ever. After hunting around the internet and reading hundreds of differing opinions, I'm at a food standstill. I know that you are all going to say "ask your pediatrician," but she just tells me to read the food chart she gave me at one of my first appointments. The food chart is like my version of geometry, a subject in which I failed miserably at.

I'm starting to think no one really knows what in the heck to feed their kids and everyone is just winging it. As he is now 8 months old (and still no teeth), do I feed him solid food or still the pulverized-to-almost-liquid baby food?

Oh well, at least he's cute when he eats.
